Japanese Music Sounded Through the University Japanese Music Sounded Through the University 11. 4. 2025 Author: Michal Kolmaš Metropolitan University Prague hosted a captivating Japanese cultural event featuring a live performance of traditional music and dance. The performers including some notable cultural figures from Japan such as Mayumi Ono and Eiren Nishikawa introduced the audience to the elegant and refined world of buyō dance and traditional Japanese instruments, including six kotos and a shamisen. Their performance combined grace, precision, and deep cultural symbolism, leaving a strong impression on all attendees.

Every day here, I discover something new – from history to high-tech daily life – and I’m constantly fascinated by how organized and thoughtfully planned everything is. For example, the ability to rent a power bank in the subway using a QR code and return it at a completely different location. Everything is fast, efficient, and it’s clear how much Koreans value systematic progress.

Along with Tanya Harmer from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Emily Snyder from University of Cambridge, Dr. Brezinova has organized there a two-day international conference: "Transnational Training, Education, and Knowledge Exchange in Revolutionary Cuba." During a meeting with the university’s rector and representatives of the Department of Asian Studies, he highlighted the department as one of the few in the Czech Republic focusing on India and outlined possible avenues for future collaboration.
