The document acknowledges that Africa has gained geopolitical, strategic, security and economic weight. This makes the region more interesting to various state and non-state actors from other countries such as China, or Russia.
Deputy Minister Mr Martin Tlapa has organized on Tuesday 22 November 2022 an event presenting the new Strategy to African Ambassadors accredited in the Czech Republic. Czech private companies, NGOs and universities got a unique opportunity to present to African Ambassadors their activities and solutions which are about to help the Czech Government to fulfil its goals outlined in the new Strategy. We are honoured and thrilled that among the two only academic institutions having the opportunity to present their activities was our university and the activities carried out within the African Studies Centre. A head of the Centre, Ms Tereza Němečková, has introduced to the distinguished audience the undergoing research related mostly to the changing economic and geopolitical dynamics in Africa, most notably in the area of the green energy transition, the rising involvement of China and Russia in African energy and infrastructural sector and the recent activities leading to building of the largest free trade area in the world, the so called African Continental Free Trade Area. Mr Ricardo Reboredo from IRES department who also participates on activities of the African Studies Centre was present, too, and got actively involved in networking which followed the presentation.
After the event, African Ambassadors met with the Foreign Minister Mr. Lipavský.
