Teachers and traces

2. 4. 2014 11:51 Author: Markéta Nabiany We cannot always choose our teachers. They will come along and we will learn. On our life path we meet many teachers - some of them we like to learn from, the others we have to learn from. We might not always want to learn, but we always do. From time to time, we all end up asking ourselves why we have to learn seemingly useless things from teachers we did not chose only to find out later how useful and important those lectures had been.

Studying history made me understand the present and the future. Studying literature I developed admiration for those who wrote by far more than I ever did. Studying politics I realized that politics is all around. Studying linguistics made the language flow through my veins. Studying phonetics made me to carefully listen. Studying psychology made me to see more than I have ever been able to see before.

We will remember those unforgettable lectures delivered by great minds who taught us to think independently and to look for our own answers to our own questions. We will remember those fascinating personalities who encouraged us to question rather than follow, to contradict rather than accept. Those who were supportive instead of destructive and encouraging instead of restrictive. We will remember those who inspired us - by radiating charisma, by peaceful mind and by their authenticity. We will remember those who left traces. Even though we may never see them again, we will never forget them.

If we want to continue learning and growing beyond our own limits, it is smart to always keep eyes open for inspiring teachers. Because if we do, we do not only increase our chance for free choice of our teachers but we also increase the probability that there will be more of them to enrich our future.
