The Tenth Annual International Scientific Conference "IFRS: Global Rules & Local Use - Beyond the Numbers"
27. 10. 2022 Author: Irena Jindřichovská The tenth annual international scientific conference "IFRS: Global Rules & Local Use - Beyond the Numbers" was organized jointly by the Anglo-American University in Prague and Metropolitan University Prague as a hybrid event. The hybrid mode allowed us to meet some of the speakers in person, while also allowing access to other attendees from a greater distance. An interesting and valuable part of this year's conference was the fact that 13 Ph.D. students who presented their works here. The ambition of this conference has always been to provide a forum for young scientists to discuss and help them improve their academic performance. This goal was met as each paper was discussed and commented on by the professors and other speakers in the audience. The topics of this year's conference included typical areas such as reporting and IFRS, Integrated and financial reporting, as well as some ethical and legal issues, as well as quantitative studies and the impacts of COVID-19 on various aspects of business and society. The presenters came mainly from European countries, namely the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Austria, Estonia, Ireland, Greece and Turkey. The current current topics of the confection were, for example, inflation, the energy crisis, which are hot topics in the current economic situation of many countries (not only) in Europe.
This year, the conference premises were in the historic Thurn Taxis Palace directly below Prague Castle. The historic building provided a very friendly environment for conference proceedings.
All submissions have undergone a thorough double-blind peer-review process and will be ready for indexing by Clarivate (formerly Thomson Reuters, as in previous years) when the proceedings are complete.
In terms of organisation, we have to highlight the work of our combined IT team and on-site organisers. The quality of the conference can be increased or decreased depending on the organizational background. Since all the technicians involved worked together, the end result was excellent. Many of the papers covered very interesting and topical topics that are worth further processing for scientific journals. However, the high-quality output of the conference can be not only publication opportunities, but also personal meetings with accounting and auditing experts at various levels, including state administration. At this conference, we had an expert representative from the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, an experienced auditor from the Big Four and a representative of the Association of Accountants of the Czech Republic, who presented their observations. We believe that the cooperation between the two universities will prove to be productive in the coming years as well, and we look forward to the next year, which will again be organized on the premises of the Metropolitan University Prague.

"I was particularly pleasantly surprised to hear the comments of one of the discussants – after my presentation - criticising the main mantra in relation to the SDG. It was most refreshing and ground breaking. At that stage more than ever, I regretted not being there and talking to you and to other participants. Many thanks again; it was just a fantastic event."
