Cambridge Exams at MUP
In 2010 Metropolitan University Prague acquired the status of a closed authorised center for Cambridge English Language Assessment. Students are able to take general Cambridge English exams PET, FCE, CAE and CPE, and as of this academic year they can also take Cambridge English: Business (BEC Preliminary, Vantage and Higher). All exams take place at the Foreign Languages Department of MUP in Jarov. Another innovation is that all exams can not only be taken in paper form but in computer form as well.MUP students can thus obtain an internationally recognised certificate with unlimited validity. The exam itself represents a significant contribution to each student’s professional future. It is also widely recognised at universities abroad.
Paper based exams take place twice a year in March and June. Computer based exams can be organised every month under the condition that at least 4 candidates register. After registering for any of the above mentioned exams and paying the appropriate fee, each candidate can try a mock oral and written test.
In addition, Metropolitan University Prague offers its students the possibility of attending Cambridge English preparatory courses. These courses run from mid-October to mid-June and from Monday to Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m. and finishing at 7 p.m. Students have to pay 2,500,- CZK per semester or 5,000,- CZK per academic year. The courses take place once a week including the winter exam period. Extra attention is given to exam techniques and strategies necessary for passing the exam. Lessons are taught by experienced tutors with university education, among whom many act as certified oral examiners for Cambridge English exams. In order to be able to register for the preparatory courses, it is necessary to take the placement test during September or October.
