ABSTRACT:
Malaysia’s long history as a trading hub along the Strait of Malacca has shaped its cultural diversity, economic development, and security outlook. As a founding ASEAN member, it plays a central role in regional diplomacy and lies strategically between major powers. The presentation explores how Malaysia’s national and foreign policies are shaped by its geopolitical realities and strategic location.

Mr. Amirul Zaki bin Fadzir, Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of Malaysia in the Czech Republic.

Bio: After having practiced law (litigation) for several years, Mr. Amirul Zaki bin Fadzir joined Malaysia’s diplomatic service. He served at the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism and the National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention in Malaysia. In July 2024, he assumed the post of the Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Prague, with having become the Chargé d’Affaires in May 2025. He also spent several months volunteering at the UNHCR in Kuala Lumpur.
